Email: janda.ank@gmail.com My name is Angela Beam Ankenman. I live in Longview, Washington. I live in the Pacific Northwest because of its beauty. I am a visual, self taught artist, evolving my techniques for the last 14 years. I paint landscapes, seascapes, and I draw portraits. Art is a big part of my life. It is a delicate fire I have set and fueled, keeping me warm and full. While painting landscapes and nature I start out painting sometimes with out a plan. I work quickly to cover the canvas. I look for composition and depth, and then I add detail. As a self taught artist, I love the creative process. Just as much as it is challenging, it is rewarding. There is a point during my paintings where ideas start flooding in, and I wait for this to start happening I do research if it’s needed either on the subject or the landscape. While painting, I like to be as accurate as I can, regarding the region or the subject. As well as getting the blending just right to allow lights and darks to show appropriately. I find this process to be gratifying. Right now I use acrylic and oil. I like to phase through different mediums. I also paint in water colors, and I air brush on occasion. I have painted wall murals and saw blades. In addition to painting I draw in pencil, charcoal, and pastel. I have done many black and white pieces. As a mother of three young children, I can tell you time management is a priority of mine. My husband is very supportive, which makes all the difference. I see myself in a study period with art. I anticipate getting better in my crafts. I look forward to expanding my knowledge in all areas of interest, as I encounter and embrace each challenge. I intend to paint new subject matter. Anything I am afraid to paint, tells me I need to paint it, struggle with it and eventually master it! |
