Wife~Mother~Grandmother~writer~craft junkie~seamstress~Master Gardener~business owner~collector of useless treasures~ and wannabe painter of masterpieces~~that's me. Thankfully my husband of fourty-plus years understands why housework, though important, is not near the top of my priority list! Carl and I are blessed with two wonderful, business minded daughters who managed our video and gift stores for many years enabling me time to enjoy a semi-retired life and our precious grandchildren...and most recently, my love of art. Born, raised and still living in western Washington State, I graduated from high school with a modest scholarship for artistic ability. But all thoughts of a career in the arts were quickly squashed when dear Grandpa blurted, "Can't make no money paintin'.....where do you think the expression 'starving artist' came from?" Well, I certainly didn't want to starve so the scholarship moola was quickly invested in college business courses. So much for art! But my love of painting and crafts held fast. And here I am, decades later, fully retired and pursuing a long lost passion for painting.....learning and happily sharing what I know. Though self-taught, I do sneak in an occasional class from various instructors. Weather it be in oils, acrylics, watercolor or a mixture, I'm most happy with a brush in hand and an endless day. Wait! Did I say endless day? Oh, how I wish! I believe anyone can paint....how well is up to you. There are endless DVD's and instructional books available. Observe, practice...above all, enjoy! Have no fear. You never fail...you only learn from mistakes. The full extent of your talent will never be known unless you try.
